NYC Trip 2013

So it's been a very long time since our last post.
We have had a super busy year, as far as events and trips.

Our most recent trip was to New York City just last week.
We got to visit some pretty amazing show rooms and meet some pretty awesome people.

After a very long and cold bus trip we had our first appointment at Kleinfeld bridal.
We got to see the whole store before it was even opened up that morning!

Next we went to Kenneth Cole!
We got to see behind  the scenes where all of the creative work is done for Kenneth lines.
This is one of the inspiration boards.

Reaction is Kenneth's new ready to wear line.
This was such an awesome display, too bad we didn't get to see the women's Reaction line.

Of course in Kenneth Cole there were shoes everywhere!
Kenneth Cole's father worked in shoe manufacturing which is where Kenneth learned the business.
His father told him he was not to work for the fashion industry ever!
Well clearly he didn't listen to his father!

We had lunch at Tommy Hilfiger's People's Place cafeteria.
Here's a fun fact Tommy Hilfiger's first store was called the People's Place!

They had the coolest show rooms at Cejon Accessories!

The next morning we started out at Jovani's Evening Wear studio.
They are currently under construction and remodeling so everything was covered in plastic.
The dresses of course were still so beautiful.
We got to speak briefly to the women who is the one and only designer for Jovani's!

Next we headed over to Fashion Snoops.com head quarters.
The whole company focuses around trend forecasting!
Large companies will subscribe to their website and then can get all kinds of information about the up and coming colors, trends, and styles.
It was really cool to see this side of the fashion industry.

We then stopped over at Ross Stores. We got to meet a buying planner who works in the outwear department.
We also got to meet and talk to a women who is the buyer for dd's discounts, (which is a smaller branch of the the Ross Stores Co. ) juniors department.
Both had some really great advice for all of us on the trip.

We then went to Magaschoni's.
We ran into one of our very own Fashion Association members, who was at the time finishing her last day of a winter internship at Magaschoni's.
It was really cool to hear about her experience working at Magaschoni's.

Our last appointment was at Godiva Chocolatier's!
We met the man in charge of creating Godiva's look.
It was neat to see how visual merchandising can be used in so many different venues such as chocolate.

Best part was that we got some free chocolate out of our visit!

We then had lunch at Gingers with everyone.

We really had an amazing trip other then freezing every day walking around Manhattan!
We learned so much from all the different people we met and talked to. It truly was a really great experience.
